How to use the Transmedia

The Transmedia Digital Platform

The Colombian Truth Commission’s Transmedia Digital Platform transcends traditional historical interpretations of Colombia’s armed conflict by incorporating the varied voices and direct experiences of the people who lived through it. This Digital Platform is an engaging, multimedia experience designed to deepen the active participation needed for understanding Colombia’s complex history.

Understanding the Digital Platform

The Digital Platform and its over 200,000 files weave together the research and public dialogue facilitated by the Commission into a cohesive narrative that introduces audiences to the lived experiences of conflict and peace by Colombians in all their diversity. Each tab in the transmedia is an enlightening journey, culminating in encounters with the victims and survivors whose stories the Commission has pledged to honor. These narratives bring audiences closer to understanding the real impacts of conflict.

Purpose of the Digital Platform

The Digital Platform is fundamentally a peacebuilding initiative. It seeks to dismantle the ingrained prejudices of a national narrative marked by conflict, by showcasing the stories of love, resistance, creativity, and solidarity that also define Colombian society. The Digital Platform is crafted to resonate emotionally, enabling users to connect with the genuine stories and personas sourced from the Commission’s extensive research during its mandate.

Diversity of Multimedia Formats

The diverse multimedia formats of the Digital Platform reflect the varied social, narrative, visual, and sensory dynamics found across Colombia. Instead of isolating stories, the platform unites different narrative elements into a comprehensive national story. This unified narrative is visually represented and tailored to engage different audiences, with a particular focus on non-repetition by engaging youth and future generations.

Engaging the Digital Platform

To effectively engage with the Digital Platform:

  1. Explore Diverse Narratives: Begin by navigating through the diverse narratives presented. Each element, from historical timelines to visual stories, offers a distinct perspective on the Commission’s understanding of truth.
  2. Download and Disseminate: Use the platform’s download feature to share content within your community or for educational purposes. This functionality is particularly designed to extend the platform’s reach to areas with limited internet connectivity.
  3. Participate in Dialogues: The platform fosters discussion and debate, allowing users to interact with the content and each other, thus deepening collective understanding and connection.
  4. Connect Emotionally: Engage emotionally with the platform, which presents authentic testimonies from those affected by the conflict. This method aims to make the historical narrative relatable and impactful.
Through its comprehensive, accessible, and emotionally engaging approach, the Digital Platform not only seeks to preserve the legacy of those affected by Colombia’s armed conflict but also educates and inspires both present and future generations toward a deeper understanding and commitment to peace.
