Time: Tue Apr 21, 2026, 4:00PM – 5:30PM
Location: Hesburgh Center for International Studies, Rm. C103
This project explores how Colombians, who lived through decades of armed conflict, understand justice, responsibility, and reconciliation. Using the Colombian Truth Commission’s innovative transmedia archive—including video, audio, text, and interactive storytelling—the study incorporates the voices of victims and former combatants, and also of witnesses. These perspectives are often overlooked yet are central to rebuilding relationships and communities after violence.

This presentation focuses on a small selection of testimonies to examine how people make sense of justice in relational, human terms (e.g. through recognition, repair, and dialogue), rather than through purely legal procedures.
Featured speakers/panelists are:
- Kerry Clamp, Associate Professor of Criminology, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Nottingham
- Josefina Echavarría Álvarez, director, Peace Accords Matrix
The event is hosted by the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies and co-sponsored by the Keough-Naughton Institute for Irish Studies, both part of the Keough School of Global Affairs.
